hahaha, i live in virginia beach/norfolk and we NEVER get snow. on obama's inaguration day, we were supposed to get "more snow than we've had in 20 years"...........not a single flake stuck. we still got the day of and from that day hence it was known as "snowbama day"!!!

Well where I live in SE England, about 45 mins fast train from London we had 2" of snow 10 days ago and every thing, and i mean everything, shut down! trains, roads, tubes airports, you name it it was shut!

Except my 10y/o school. she was not happy!

We have had another 1" tonight lets see what happens tomorrow!

I remember a few years back living in Bavaria, -30f 250mm snow and nobody noticed

I'm not in school eather but we usually dont get snow days. I believe when i was in school, we didnt have a snow day. I live in Southeast Alaska and it rains more then it snows!! But I do believe this year there was a few snow days because we had a cold stretch and then it snowed about 3-4 feet in a 24 hour period. Its gone now. We have weird weather here. It can rain, snow, hail and sunshine all in one day!!! It can snow about 4 inches in the early morning and by the afternoon its raining!!

Growing up in Regina I never heard of a snow day. I walked to school all winter as a kid no matter what the weather. I didn't know some places closed down when they got a lot of snow until I was old enough to care about watching the news and saw reports of such on tv. In Regina winters averaged -25 C usually with at least one week of -40 C (all without the windchill, take off at least another 10 degrees for that). If they closed down for cold/snow, they may as well have stayed closed all winter!

Here in Calgary I've yet to see a snow day, but it doesn't get near as cold here (-5 C? Pshaw!) Pretty easy to get used to!

I do love the snow though

Lol prairelilly, you remind me of my grandpa. "When I was a kid, I had to walk 15 miles in the snow everyday that was deeper than me!" ... darn old people... just kidding, I have nothing against people older than me

"...uphill both ways, with no shoes. I had to catch my lunch on the way to school, and hope that my lunch didn't eat me first..."

I'm not old...I'm 33. And that's all true - in Regina it gets COLD. When you grow up with it you think it's normal, until you move somewhere where it isn't. Maybe when I actually AM old, I'll embellish it a bit more - then it will really sound good!
