| The most epic battle ever We're on the verge of war, people. The puffers and bettas have declared war against each other. But who will win? You decide who you think will win!
I think PUFFERS will win! They look so cuddly and innocent, but then BAM they attack with violent ferocity! They are built to be killing machines! Those little pretty boys can't do a thing against puffers! They can't even inflict a flesh wound, but puffers have hard beaks that can bite through snail shells, so bettas are nothing! Bow down before the puffers, all ye bettas!
By the way, this is just for fun. PLEASE don't try this for real. Please please please don't. Last edited by pinkfloydpuffer; November 24th, 2008 at 10:48 PM.

| I'm not gonna vote yet - Yes the puffers have their hard beaks to bite and their puffing to scare, but bettas have labyrinth organs so they can last longer out of the water, all they would have to do would be to tip over the tank! |

| Octopi.
Yes, bettas can survive out of water. Octopi can actually move out of water. They have even been known to cross a room, eat fish out of a freshwater tank, and then go back to their own.
Yes, puffers have their nifty little beaks, but octopi also have beaks, and their beaks are poisonous.
That, and they can change color. |

| Oh Lordy! betta's!!! They don't need brute force, they win over with charm.
Ever heard the saying You get more flies with honey? |

| betta's all the way!!!! and as far as begging, I think the betta moms will totally argue that LOL ...I have a few that I swear they stand on their tails to get higher out of the tank to get their worms
and a 55 gal with just 2 puffers seems alot of space wasted but thats just me |

And oooohhh! Puffers can turn black. Octopi can change color to match the color of the substrate they're on, or they can turn black, purple, blue, or bright red, depending on mood.
Edit: Oh, yeah, and octopi have the next best thing (or maybe a better thing) than opposable thumbs. I've never seen a betta or a puffer open a pop bottle to get at the shrimp inside. Last edited by sirdarksol; November 25th, 2008 at 11:30 AM.

| Puffers take my vote! They are spiny and fast, no way could a betta catch a puffer
(normally I'd say pleco, but I don't want to be a rebel) |

And HEY!!! That is not wasted space!!!!!! You're fine with keeping two oscars in an even bigger tank, and puffers get big and make big messes!!!! Quote:

as far as my oscars, they have lots of tank mates LOL and they are a ton of work to keep them in clean water because of so many tank mates...but they can coexist with alot of other fishies |

| I love the bettas, but I have to say none of mine could take on a puffer! They think they're fierce, but really lacking in the weapons department with their mini teeth.
Maybe if I put em through boot camp.... hmm... taught em some ninja moves? |

I don't need my puffers to live with other fish. They give me more than enough enjoyment all by their lonesomes . And their water stays clean just fine (they're still just itty bitty babies) |

| The puffer's got it I'm afraid.
There isn't really any contest - They'd rip any prettyboy betta to shreds.
I had one a few months back, and it was a vicious little thing.
Only reason I won't get another is cos it would have to be on its own |

For example, if faced with a metal bottle with a shrimp inside, they'd still be able to get at it. And octopi can squirt ink.
Teaching bettas either ninjutsu or aikido may even the physical combat playing field between bettas and puffers. Octopi would still whup them, though. They are nature's ninjas. |

I was totally serious. I'm currently raising an octopus army, and when the stirred-up sediment from the battle between puffers and bettas clears, we will rise up and rule the battlefield. |

| Well since we're throwing octopus into the ring, I'm going to vote cuttlefish! They have beaks just like octopi, but are way cooler and can also change color for camo. |
