Discus or Arowana?
One of your friend is giving you a 5ft aquarium with filter, light, heater and everything because he/she will be migrating to another country. He has two types of fish and one of them he wants to give away, the other give it to you. Which one would you choose?
15 Discus fish or 1 Red Arowana (medium size)?

Arowana most definetly. I just think they look wayyyyy cooler than discus and I've always wanted a large, carnivourus pet.

I've had an Arrowana ........................There great fish but you better make sure you have a good secure top on your tank............The one I had knocked the top off and killed himself, and I had a pretty good top on it.

Discus.
The arrowana grows to be around 3 ft, and the tank is only 5ft. It needs more than twice its length to feel comfortable, in my opinion.
On the other hand, the discus would be a really neat group of fish in such a huge tank.

Definitely the discus, because there is fifteen going to be given to you. The arowana gets way to big for this tank.

Discus but not 15 of them...you will have problems. Start off with like 8 and see what sex ratio you come up with. Discus get stressed easily and 15 in 1 tank is not a good thing. Over crowding isn't not good for discus. Not to mention, most people I know have lost more discus when they first got them.. Start small and slow.
Any arrowana is too big for any in home tank unless it's over 200gs even then it's too small.

I voted discus (SO jealous of you for getting this offer!!!) but I agree with Allie... not 15 of them. That seems like an awful lot unless you're already a really experienced discus keeper. Fifteen sounds overstocked, but I'm not sure how many gallons 5 ft works out to be atm.
Arowana are amazing and would be a wonderful fish to keep... but not in a 5 foot tank.

Its actually hard to introduce new fish to an already established group. Its better to add them all at once.
I'd pick the discus for sure. A 5ft tank, but what gallonage?

Discus for sure. I'll take all 15 too and just keep the best ones say 8-10 and then sell the rest.
Can I do that?

Depending on the gallonage you could keep all 15...
