What kind of fish do you prefer?

If you could only have one fish, and it could only be an drab active, drab personality or colourful fish which would it be?

I love fish with lots of personality. Not necessarily the most prettiest fish, but one I can "communicate" with. I do like an active tank too.
My angelfish and betta seem to have the most personality compared to the rest. My snowball and blue panaque come out to stare at us...sometimes the panaque follows me from end to the 120g to the other. Cute plecos.

The fish that I'd prefer and has both personality and color would either be a Red Arowana, a Betta or a Goldfish. Only some goldfish such as Ryukin or Comets. lol

I prefer a fish with personality, but what is drab to one person can be beautiful to another. I've heard wonderful things about the beauty of frontosas. I have two now and I'm like "eh, nothing special." My husband swooned over a discus photo. To me, they look like drink coasters.

On the other hand, I love love LOVE to watch my Ps. elongatus, Henry, do pretty much anything. I'm always gushing about his color, his fins, his movement while my husband asks me why I don't trade him in for something prettier and less aggressive!

Personality. Luckily, I get beauty, activity, and LOTS of personality out of all my bettas... best of all words!! I love Oscars for their interactiveness and angels for their quiet, observant company as well... all great personality fish in my opinion.

Angelfish are far from quiet observers, lol. ALL 13 I have had were rowdy and fight/fought all the time.

LOL... sounds like we have very different angel experiences! Though, I don't own any myself... but I have ones I go visit often at the LFS... they all swim up to the glass and stare at me, as if waiting for me to do something!

To me, personality consists a lot of how active the fish is...and a bit of how it looks. Sometimes my larger red devils colors flare up so well he just looks so cocky compared to the smaller ones.
So killing three birds with one stone...personality!

I chose a fish with personality, but truly I would like a tank with fish from all three categories.

Well, now I know who to vote for in November!

I chose colourful because I love guppies and neons. My zebra danios are so active I can't focus on them which is slightly frustrating, and too much personality = too much drama lol. I stress out and worry too much over my fish!
