My favorite number is 87. I guess that will have to be my silver lining when I get up there.

LOL. From that perspective, 87 is just about the best favorite number you can get!

Hey, I'm dissapointed to learn that at age 42 I only have one more year (actually two since I just turned 42) to go before I'm in the "old" category.

Oh, and I can understand why the salesman was mistaken... I've seen your picture, you definitly DON'T look like you're nearing the big 30...
Jim,

I know what you mean....I went to see Aerosmith and Motley Crue this past summer and people were asking me "WHY?".....to which I replied - "Why not?"....I grew up on Aerosmith and don't remember reading where it said you have to changeg your musical taste once you reach a certain age. Truth be told, I can't stand half of the stuff the people my age find to be good music. Give me my Aerosmith, Metallica, etc., and I'm happy.

Re: AGE

I grew up with 80s music and love it, but love all kinds of stuff since then.. kind of into the linkin park, red, trust company sound lately.

Re: AGE

Do you know what's insulting? My boyfriend, who's 29 y.o., is from a subtly different musical generation than I am (am 32 y.o.). He goes to parties called '90's revival' without a trace of irony!!!

Yes, I think we've hinted enough about this. Please, remove the 'old' category altogether. How about something like ">42"?

Re: AGE

I agree with armadillo ... in a world where people are living to over 100 all the time, it's sort of unfair to call anyone in their 40's "OLD"

Re: AGE

Oh, and we could also do <12, for our younger members. I read on this thread that some of them could not enter their age because that category was missing.

Really nice poll, by the way. It's lovely to see what diversity of ages share the fish lurve.

Re: AGE

Ok...well...for a few minutes there, seeing the posts about a 9 year old and a 17 year old....I thought I was REALLY old for a few minutes...now I realize, they're just really young.

I'm 36, turning 37 in October.

Funny, with your logo I'd assumed much younger. Really cute logo. Looks like Thomas the Tank Engine.

Re: AGE

Hi Callum. Yep, we all had a laugh because there are members younger than 13. Just imagine you're older than 42! Insulting.

I love that this is such a diverse group. Happy birthday in advance, then. You're slowly creeping up to driving age!

Re: AGE

Well when you're my grand old age, 3 more years is nothing! For us (Europe), you have to be 18 to drive! Imagine that. It's 17 in the UK. I wonder if there's contries where you have to be something ridiculous like 36 to get your licence. Would be funny. You could be a football mum until you're like 60 because your kids would FOREVER need a lift!

lol.. yea, it's 16 in florida, but some states in the US it's 18 now. i'm not sure why.. living in a state with MANY retired people, i notice that (as a group) they are the worst of drivers, not the younger ones.. the retirees are more likely to pull out into traffic without looking, back out of parking spots without looking, change lanes without looking or signalling.. they don't seem to be bothered to look around them.

Re: AGE

What I mind about older drivers, is that a lot of the REALLY old ones should not have their licence anymore for medical reasons. They drive in front of you at a ridiculously slow speed, and cause traffic accidents by the sheer frustration they cause. It's like they are completely unaware of the vehicles surrounding them. Really gets my goat!

What drives me nuts is I drive a septic tanker every day, and it seems like every day some really old fool tries to drive into me; or more appropriately UNDER me. Don't these people realize how long it takes to stop in a tanker full of sh*t?
I can't believe that here in florida someone who isn't capable of walking without a walker and has a reaction time of about 70 seconds can still get a drivers licence...

yea.. i hear you.. it's the state caving in to the aarp, just like the insurance companies that charge us more and them less. if the state just had a driving test, nothing tricky, no questions, just a routine drive every couple years for those over 65, a lot of licenses would be revoked.

Re: AGE

28, but I'm already going gray so I resemble the "Old" remark as well. I really don't care if I'm called old. It's when I FEEL old that I dislike it.

Bettacouple, the biggest problem is the state politicians have figured out that seniors are the biggest group of people here that VOTE! So any time they try to do something about seniors driving they don't get reelected. Therefore, nothing ever gets done

Re: AGE

Which they will, of course. Man, Florida must have one of the oldest average population age. It seems like that's where everyone goes to retire.
