Re: Your Worst Fish...
I'm not a fan of Platies and mollies. Why?? I can't really say, honestly. They just don't strike my fancy.
I tend to like more interesting fish, i.e. fish with lots of color (Bettas or guppies), interesting characteristics (crayfish, oscars, etc.), or an interesting mix.
To be honest, if you look at the amount of tanks my girlfriend and I have, 6, we have very few fish for that amount of water. 2 bettas (seperate tanks- 2.5 and 5 gallon), 1 pleco and 1 oscar (55 gallon), 3 tiger barbs 1 cray and 1 tetra (20 gallon), with a 3 crab 10 gallon tank and a 10 gallon guppy tank...both under construction. That's not a lot of fish per gallon. LOL I guess, we just like oddball fish.

Re: Your Worst Fish...
Mine isn't freshwater, but my yellowtail damsel is my worst fish...it picks on everything.
The worst SW fish to have would be a bannerfish! They barely last one week in captivity!

Mmmm. I really don't like neons that much, and if I'm allowed a non-fish vote, then I'll go for African dwarf frogs. They're disgusting.

Am the same as you about guppies (obviously not about mollies!). It's great that your tanks are not overstocked.
Like oddball fish? Sounds like my boyfriend. His latest planned setup is dwarf puffers/ghost shrimp/African dwarf frogs/upside down catfish/zebra otos. Mmmmh.

Re: Your Worst Fish...
I don't really like common plecos all that much. Probably more of the fault of fish stores for recommending and selling them to anyone who asks for a tank-cleaning fish than the fish itself. But also because there's just not too much for me to like about them..
- kinda ugly and... um.... common.
- They're referred top as 'common plecos, but you need an uncommonly large tank to put them in.
- Most fish stores have dozens and dozens of them, and try and sell them to anyone
- IMO, they don't even clean the tank very well
- there's just nothing about them that makes me look at them and go, "OOO, COOL FISH!!"
Give me a couple corys and/or ottos any day over a common pleco.

Re: Your Worst Fish...
Oooh, funny. I find cories and otos not that interesting and common plecos fascinating. I have otos now, and I had common plecos. Ah well, tastes will differ.
I totally agree with fish stores overselling their algae eating skills! Most will stop eating algae as adults, and produce stupid amounts of waste.

Re: Your Worst Fish...
Ottos are kinda personalityless, I must agree, but they are AWESOME tank-cleaners.
But how you can not like corys?!?! ? Corys are one of my favorite fish to watch. I love those little guys!!

Otos are an awesome cleaning crew, totally!

Re: Your Worst Fish...
I would have to say my worst fish was a pair of marble hatchetfish. They were not with me for very long since they need to have all this special care and got them when I started.

Oh, I have a good one. Back years ago, when I had my Oscar, I caught a small, wild Bluegilll (sunfish) in a net while I fishing. Maybe 4" or so, I decided to see if it would live, so I threw it in the tank with my oscar.
Let me tell you, not only did it do fine, it was just as tough as my oscar, and 3 times as agressive. In no time it had doubled in size, and was starting to really fight with the oscar. I finally took it back to the pond and let it go, for fear it would kill my Oscar before long. What a mean, mean fish! If anyone out there likes really aggressive fish, try it sometime, you'd love a school of these..
