Re: Naming my female bettas

That 2nd betta looks like my male! Anyway, I have a lot of names for the 2nd betta if it was male betta (Flame, Blaze, etc.) The only name I can think of for a female is Peach (which is pretty corny.

Re: Naming my female bettas

I'm pretty sure it is a female, it's just that she is in a 'floating' type of thing and the other is swimming away from the camera and trying to make the pic blurry. They are both little rascals.

I know it's a female. I just meant that I can only think of male names that match her. My male looks just like her except with longer fins.

Re: Naming my female bettas

I understand, I have seen some males that look like females with the short fins.

Re: Naming my female bettas

I just noticed this, the one on the right is before I treated her for fin rot. But Emerald, that sounds pretty good, since she is a gem.

Emerald and Precious. I'd say Pearl, but that's what my gf named her female. LOL Were they mine, I'd go through and name them after Greek, Roman, or Norse gods.

Since you said both are rascals, why not name them "Thelma & Louise" after the two wild women in the movie of the same name....

I like to name my fish after god(desse)s also, but with Egyptian ones in there too.

Re: Naming my female bettas

Ours have had some very random names: Fishie (male VT betta, rip) was not feeling very inspired during that time period. Angie (female betta, named by my husband for his favorite fish in the movie "shark tale", rip) she looked nothing like that fish Now I have Sir Gawain (male VT betta) my favorite of King Arthur's knights. Tubby, Sam, and Precious (my guppies). And Tiny, Whitey, and Herbert (my Corys).

As for your fish, I like Emerald for the first one. My thoughts on the second one is Flare, just 'cause she is the orange-ish and one of my girlfriend's camp name was Flare (she's a red head). Best wishes to the three of you.

Kiwi and Clementine.

It just came to me, can't explain it - and the colors are a ways off. But the names sound good together, dontcha think?

Re: Naming my female bettas

If you wanted another gemstone name for the second one, you might consider Amber, Coral, or Topaz. I believe those are all golden, orange, or orangish-red in colour, though flashes do play havoc on the colour of bettas, so I can't say for certain that's what colour your little beauty is.

Good luck! They're both very beautiful.

Re: Naming my female bettas

Sapphires and Diamonds naturally occur in all colors if you wanted to use either of those gemstone names.
