Fish more active during the day or at night...

Hi, i was wondering if anyone elce noticed whether their fish are more active in the day or at night?
I find that my fish are much more lively at night. Though i switch the tank light on round 3:00/4:00 in the afternoon, they only get really active when it gets dark outside.

Most of my fish are more active in the first few hours of light they get, while others(loaches ansd catfish) are more active at night.

Yea maybe its them thinking its feeding time that makes them active. But apart from that my fish really are active when its dark out side, like now its very overcast and raining so the house lights are on as well as the tanks. And they are as lively as ever! In the mornings they just sort of loiter about slowly...

The tetras, gourami and otos are definitely more active during the day while the swords seem to just rather hang out in the plants. Then they and the cories come out later in the afternoon and evening.
