| tank maintenance i know those who are still cycling are likely to be spending more time on their tanks with testing and water changes (i remember it only too well :P : !!), but as i've had my first week of no water changes and can finally get into a routine of saturday morning tank maintenance and thats it i'm well excited!! ...plus my family will be too as all i've heard lately is "are you mesing about with that tank again!!!" or "please can you carry that bucket over there AGAIN for me"
so..........how much time do you spend on average?

| Re: tank maintenance I'd say between all 7 of the tanks we spend 3-4 hours.
Lately it's been a lot more between changing set ups around, getting new fish and my bf making lights for all the little tanks. Today he spent 3 hours just working on two light ballasts. |

| I'd say probably 1-2. Kind of hard to say exactly though...with the salt tank in particular, I spend lots of little 2-3 minute intervals tinkering with things. It could add up quicker than I realize. It is probably better for my mental well being if I don't dwell on that too closely. |

| I totally see what you mean. Am worried I might come to some cosmic realisation that I'm nuts spending so much time on my fish when am already so pressed for time as it is. I don't want to make that calculation. Quote:

| Myself, CWC, and three other people spend over 30 hours a week working in the fishhouse, as a total. |

| And the fishhouse is not even holding half the tanks it will when completely setup. |

| I noticed that I'm the only one in the 7-10 category. Of course, my girlfriend and I have a lot of little tanks. Of the 16 tanks we have, only 6 are over 10 gallons. And of those bigger ones, we have 2 that aren't set up. LOL
I guess that's what you get when you start breeding guppies and bettas. |

| For regular maintanence usually around 1-2 hours a week, but in cases of an outbreak or full cleaning I can spend up to 3 hours on a 55 gallon.
It's all worth it though! |

| Depends on the season. Summertime, when it's warm enough to ride, the absolute minimum to keep things running. Winter, when the bike is in storage is when I fiddle with the layout, get serious about the chemistry, and fish watching. So riding season, less than an hour a week, winter, way too much time, probably all day each Sunday while the wife is watching football in the next room. |
