Re: Petition For Walmart

Walmart is going to discontinue the fish departments in their new stores and I have heard from a friend of mine who works for them that they will be phasing the fish departments out in the other stores. I think you can save your outrage for another cause.

Re: Petition For Walmart

I hope the one near me doesn't phase out of selling fish. They have really good living conditions (except the bettas ) for all their other fish. As soon as one dies, they go and fish it out, and when one is dieing, they still fish it out and put it in a quantine tank in another part and the tank has on it, NOT FOR SALE. I also hope they don't take away the fish equipment, because I don't feel like paying $5-6 for each filter cartridge at other stores when I could buy them at Wal-mart for $5-6 for 2.

Re: Petition For Walmart

I know the one nearest me has just remodeled their fish area and put in a new area for Bettas where they are kept under heat lamps and in the 1 1/2 quart containers that are usually considered for sale to have them living in. I know this is not big tanks but much better than the small cups and they do keep them clean and open to air as opposed to stacked so they cannot have air. The heat lamps remind me of the ones the farmers use for baby chicks so I know that they are warm enough. to support life easily. (and they put out a type of light that does not disturb them at night so they can rest) I am proud of my Walmart and I know that the man in charge of the area is very knowledgeable about the fish and tries to keep everything nice for them..I have occasionally found dead fish in the big tanks but it is usually when the regular staff is not there. I too am going to be sorry to see it discontinued although I will not buy fish from them either.

Re: Petition For Walmart

Walmart is terrible! Can't even treat their fish right. There are no decorations or plants at the one I go to, not even gravel! And yet they make so much money. You would think they would be able to afford to be better than that!
