If you ask this question, it seems that everyone gives a slightly different answer. So, I have a question for our African Cichlid experts: How many African Cichlids (4-7 inch average mature size) would you stock into a 75 gallon tank?

1. 8-10
2. 11-13
3. 14-16
4. 17-19
5. 20-25
6. 25 +

I say 15 because I feel that overstocking hurts a fish's ability to grow. I am also saying 15 because I like to keep a catfish or two as well.

hmm well the 7" would be 105"''s of fish so that mite be a bit much...they say cichilids should be overstocked to keep agression down but IMO I so dont agree...with decorations and other fun things that people like, that takes away from the full capacity of the tank...IMO ...great poll tho!

I say 18 to 20 on the cichlids w/ proper filitration and plenty of hiding spots for the fish in the tank. Keeping agression down and the right species of cichlids.
We were told 15 for our 55... our limit we are keeping will actually be around 13... we are at 11 right now.
