technicall, i still have 3 inches left...but i have 40 gal worth of filtration on the tank...so a 2-3 extra inches shouldnt be a problem

I respectfully disagree
Paradise fish - 4 inches

4 Corys -2.5 inch (approx size) = 10 inches
http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/p...fm?pCatId=1558
2 Pearl Gouramis- 4 inches = 8 inches
http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/p...cfm?pCatId=966
1 Rainbow shark - 6 inches
http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/p...fm?pCatId=1081
If you go by the 1 inch per gallon rule you only have one inch. When stocking a tank the adult size, mass and temperment need to be considered.
Just my thoughts.

but otos...or corys wouldnt bother anyone...and my big fish could care less about them as well...my paradise is pretty lazy...and my pearls chase each other every now and then...but in a playful way

I didn't say either would bother anybody. I personally feel you have reached your bioload max out.
Otos are very sensitive to water quality and over crowding and so are Corys but not as much as Otos.
Otos, Corys and Plecs are basically bottom dwelling fish and the bottom of your tank is pretty well populated.
While glass catfish are mid to top dwelling fish they are more comfortable in groups and the Paradise fish and Gouramis might not like another fish in their territory.
Honest I'm not trying to be a spoil sport but to give you the benefit of my experience which is crowding leads to problems.

i know youre trying to help...and i am listening to every word you say...youve almost convinced me to get a live plant instead of more fish

well, i will think about it...i promise i wont do something drastic...maybe just one peppered cory...thats where i'm leaning right now
only reason i want another cory, is that my leopard is a loner, and likes to think of himself as a tetra (he always swims around...but scavenges the bottom at night) and i would like to add one more to my group of three "normal" corys

corys

probably would be best to leave the fish like they are.. maybe even find a friend with buddies for the loner cory. a friend of ours had some corys in a tank with a betta and when they eventually died off, leaving just the 1 cory, he buddied up with the betta and they're always hanging out together now.

well, i thought he would like the new additions...but rarely hangs out with them...he hung out with the false julii more than anyone...i just might have to order a leopard from DFS or thatfishplace

Go with the rubbernose pleco. Mine is such a great algae eater and is such a cute little guy too. When I stick my hand in to move something around/add more plants, he comes and sits on my hand and if I go to move my hand, he moves up to my forearm and starts sucking away. I think that was what helped him recover from being way to thin when I got him, but I may be wrong and really a true fish healer. lol
