| Re: Star Wars My favorites, in order
Attack of the Clones:
Reasons: "Around the survivors, a perimeter form."
Drunken Yoda style combat.
The ship-mounted weapons look way cooler than in the other movies.
The entire arena scene.
Jar-Jar Binks is the ultimate evil
Mace Windu gets a bigger part.
A New Hope:
Reasons: Great start to a series.
For its time, the special effects were magnificent (like the training droid sequence)
Revenge of the Sith:
Reasons: A bunch of cool lightsaber battles.
The giant riding lizard.
Wookies are the only reason Yoda lives.
Phantom Menace:
Reasons: Cool lightsaber battle.
Awesome special effects.
Podracing.
Return of the Jedi
Empire Strikes Back
I like them all.
I also like the books, though I'm really upset that they changed the rules on how lightsabers are made. The series was supposed to be comprehensive, never disagreeing with itself. Then someone decided that the gems that made lightsabers were magical rather than just being a crystalline lens. Also dislike the way that Timothy Zahn messes with other peoples' writing, though Outbound Flight was awesome. |

| Re: Star Wars I've never seen episode VII
i never trusted that jar-jar binks.. i should've known he was in the Emperor's fan club, president of it on Naboo in fact..
Yea, I enjoyed the books at first.. then they started getting wacky and going Star Trek on conflicting with themselves so i lost interest and haven't read one since they killed chewy. |

| Re: Star Wars That's the one thing that I disagree with almost everyone else on. Because the books are a progression of decades, the old characters are going to have to die (and there are still books being written with the old characters in them, stuff written during the Clone Wars, or during the days of the Empire, or in the days prior to the Yuzong Vong invasion). Besides, the series has never been an entirely happy-go-lucky one. Luke is fighting his father, who went to the dark side, murdering all of the young force-adepts in the temple among other horrible acts.
An entire planet was destroyed as an interrogation tactic.
Several beings lose limbs to lightsabers.
Etc...
Yes, it's sad that Chewbacca died. But people die. That's how things happen. I like that the Star Wars universe is growing beyond its original characters. I just wish they were working harder to maintain cohesion.
BTW, I forgot to include my favorite book. It's "I, Jedi." I don't know who wrote it. It follows one of Luke's students from the Yavin system as he joins and then leaves the temple and finds his own way to becoming a Jedi. It also has the most comprehensive detailing of the creation of a lightsaber. |

| Re: Star Wars Death as a natural progression, I have no problem with.
Using the death of a major character as a selling point to promote a book, is lame. |

| Re: Star Wars I haven't read any of the books but I have always loved the movies. Saw Ep. 5 and 6 at the theatre when I was little. I can't even tell you how many times my mom took me to see Return of the Jedi at the theatre. I have the trilogy collector sets on VHS and DVD and I have all of the new ones on DVD as well. Saw those on opening day too, each one of them. I did like them and it was so nice to have the background story in Ep. 1-3 but honestly and I know I will be disagreed with on this, I thought it could have been better. I thought some of the story lines were a little cheesy and did anyone else think the pod race scene with little anakin just dragged on and on... I know they were trying to make out how he was this natural pilot and all but geez... I felt like it took up so much of the movie. Anyway, I love it always and will continue to watch them over and over again but I wish Ep. 1-3 had been just a little better. Some of the digital stuff too, which was great btw, but it just didn't seem to match Ep. 4-6.
I also have the original Millenium Falcon from the 80's and several of the original figures. I've tried to look for more, Ebay maybe |

| Re: Star Wars Now that I have all 6 I don't know if i have a particular favorite. I just like to start watching the first and going all the way to the end of 6... like a long soap opera. I just watch so much in the evening, stop wherever seems good, and pick it up the next night until I watch the whole series. Drives my daughter nuts! hehehe
And now that they touched up the last 3 to match the first better, it flows much smoother, and is easy to see the bigger "Darth" story. So I guess it's hard to say what my favorite is when I think if all 6 as part of a bigger continuous story. |
