| Re: Best place for your tanks I voted for the lounge because that is were we would be the most. Although i think it would be neat for a fish tank to be in a bathroom. Although the poor things would probably get stunk out from time to time. lol Or those who are regular then three times a day. Poor fishy's that would be cruel in a way |

| I've got mine in 3 different rooms presently but will be moving them all to the laundry room (except the 10g's) as that is the best place for them .... concrete floor & no distractions. |

| Since I am in a one bedroom apartment I don't really have the ability to be picky about where my tanks go. I pretty much just fill up any space that is available (tops of dressers, bookshelfs, and pretty much any other flat surface other than the kitchen counter) I only have 3 tanks that are actually on stands. I guess pretty soon some of the furniture is going to need to be sold in order to finance and make space for this new hobby of mine |

| I said the bedroom, because I'm fourteen, and my bedroom is the only spot that's mine. If I had a fish tank in any other room, it wouldn't really be only mine. I wouldn't get to make all the decisions and see it all the time. Bedroom is the best. |

| i have 1 in the lounge (which i watch when i should be watching tv....such a distraction!)
the other is in the dining room, so i watch them when i'm eating. the bn always comes out when we're having tea and sticks to the front glass. distracts my kids somewhat as its behind their chairs so they spend half their time turning round and not eating! tank being in the dining room when we are having fish for tea does feel wrong!
as i have a through lounge/dining room, sit in the right chair and i can watch both tanks!
would love a little hex tank with a betta in it for my kitchen worktop so i could watch him while i cook. would have to ask him to shut his eyes when i'm cooking fish though. when my kids are older and responsible enough to take care of fish themselves, i'll be encouraging them to have a tank in their rooms too. at the mo though, i just dont have the time :-( Last edited by tan.b; March 29th, 2008 at 05:27 PM.

| I think the best place is a nice central spot in one's living room, provided the living room stays quiet most of the time (fish get scared and feel insecure when there's lots of movement around the tank, and especially when there's a lot of knocking on tank glass). If the living room is reasonably quiet, I think a large beautifully planted or reef tank will make it look awsome. A beautiful tank will transform any room into not just a room, but into a room with a "window" into the wild .
My second choice would be a central spot in a quiet bedroom. I'd never place my tank in any hallway(s), kitchens, bathrooms, etc ... There's usually too much commotion in such places. Fish need it quiet and calm. I'd also never put a fish tank in a TV room where the TV set is loud and turned on most of the time. With all the new and large HD TVs, such rooms are way too loud for fish today. HD TVs also emit harmful radiation, so I wouldn't want my fish tank in and around this zone (this radiation is dangerous both to humans and to animals). And lastly, I wouldn't want a TV set to distract me from my tank - in a room with a beautiful large tank, it's the tank that should be the focus of your attention, not the TV set.
As for the dining room ... again, it's usually a place with a lot of commotion, unless it's a really quiet dining room. |

| Not sure if I posted on this before but my answer is at least 2 in every room! I actually have 4 of my betta tanks in my bedroom which is my favorite place to be.....My 2 55 gallons tanks are in my living area along with 2 of the Betta tanks....Little Patron is in my office because he is a trouble maker lol so he has to look at me before he decides to chew or blow his bubbles.... |
