I know that there is a topic with the same name, but I chceked it first and it is not what I am dealing with. My BN in the 37 has a hole in the middle of it's dorsal fin and the webbing between the fin rays is dissapearing. My BN is also turning a whiteish color. My question is, what is wrong? Is it just fin rot? If so, would I be able to treat the tank with Melafix? I will also post one in the disease section.

aww, no-one's replied.
plecos do seem to change colour on their mood anyway, so is it different to what you've seen him before? mine go realy pale like the gravel sometimes, and when on their log they go really dark.
to be on the safe side i'd use melafix. i've used it with my pleco in the tank (treating his tank mates) and it did no harm to him. melafix is a good all rounder! is he still eating? good luck, and sorry i wasnt much help, but couldnt leave your thread unanswered!

I am treating it with melafix, but the coloration was just a sign of hunger. When I put a slice of cuc. in later, he/she(still unable to determine) went back to the regualr dark brown.
