I have been having problems with my
ammonia in my tank and have lost a few fish over the past few days. I am assuming the ammonia poisoning got the best of them. I am doing 50% water changes daily and using Amquel+ and I have the ammonia level down to .5 as of last night. The remaining fish, and those that died, have/had fin rot and
ICH, and I'm trying very hard not to lose what few fish I have left.
What concerns me is, last night before bed I noticed the pleco was acting strange so I figured he wasn't going to make it. I paid extra close attention to him and I noticed he had brown things coming off his body. I say things because I don't know what else to describe them as. They were the same color as him, kind of mucus looking but definitely not attached to him. I am not sure if this is normal with stressed fish and an ich infestation, if it was some type of slime coat reproduction gone wrong or what. I just want to make to try and rule out the possibility that there might be something else in my tank. If anyone has seen anything like this before, please help.
