2 Plecos??

Can You Keep 2 Plecos In The Same Tank Or Would They Be Territorial Towards Each Other?(common Plecos)

They should be fine when they're young, but as they mature I've heard they fight.

It depends on how big the tank is. Common pleco's will grow to 2' given proper care.

Hello PP. Personally I've never had good luck with more than one Pleco per tank. However, others have and have had them to breed. Be sure to research the type of Pleco/Plecos you want before you make the purchase. As adults different species grow to different sizes.

Two common plecs in a 55g or less isn't really advisable as they get very big, create alot of waste and would not tolorate each other as they get older. Bristlenose plecs dnt get as big therefore would have more places too hide from each other. Hope this helps.

All plecos are terratorial just two of the same species that dnt get too big can hide from each other providing the tank is big enough and they have plants, caves and wood or rocks to hide from each other.

My two common(?) sailfin(?) plecos do fine in my pond. It is large enough and has two separate shelf/rock areas so they each have their own spot. When I bring them in for the winter, they seem to tolerate each other okay in the smaller tank (40 gallon breeder - yes I know it is too small for them, and I do water changes 2-4 times a week to keep ammonia in check). There are the occasional squabbles over their favorite hiding spots, but they do pretty well. Usually one is on one side of the tank and the second is on the other. I feed them on both sides of the tank so there is no squabble over food.

As long as you have a large enough tank and sufficient hidey holes, they may be just fine. I think it also depends on if they are used to sharing their space or not. Mine were bought at the same time, from the same store, when they were only 1/2 inch long. They have never been separated for more than a few minutes (when I catch them to bring them in).
