Bristlenose with African Cichlids?

I have a 30 gal tank with a few small African Cichlids. As with most cichlid tanks I have a bit of an algae problem. I've been reading some good things about keeping Bristlenose plecos with them. I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with this?
Thanks!

A 30 gallon tank is fine for a BN, but a bit small for most African cichlids. Some are alright w/BN, it depends on the species. What do you currently have in the tank?

Mainganos, yellow labs, red zebras. Two of each. They're all still young, only about 2 inches each. I'm hoping to get a 55 gallon by the time they're full grown.

Maingano and yellow Lab's are relatively mild Africans, but the red zebras are quite a bit more aggressive. You'd be better off swapping off the zebras and going with 5-6 each of the Maingano and Lab's in a 55. It's definitely better to stock the tank you have, rather than the one you plan on getting. As for a BN, I wouldn't recommend dropping a small juvie in there. If you can find one that's at least as large as the cichlids it may work. You would also need to provide enough cover for the BN.
