| eggs!!!!! Ive got my first bristlenose eggs!!!!!
my male BN has gone missing ive not seen him for 2 days. he sometimes hides during the day but then comes out at night so as its been 2 days i thought i would search for him
so i moved all the stuff around in the tank looking for him and i just cant find him anywhere its as if he has disapeared
after putting everything back again i noticed a cluster of yellow blobs and thinking at first it was something nasty i carefully took them out only to realise they must be BN eggs.
now what do i do with them ? ive put them back in the tank under the ornimental log so they r not out in the open |

| Out need to make circulation over the eggs. It would of been best to leave them with dad but he might not take them back. |

| i have no idea where dad is i cant find him anywhere in the tank at all so i have no idea where the eggs were to give them back to him
I was conernd that perhaps he had got stuck or might be injured or something hence my search |

| If their not white by now then he was around to fertilize them. I'm surprised he wasn't right there with them.

| i have no idea where he is
so do u think i should take them out of the tank and perhaps put them in a bucket with a air stone to creat a water flow over them ?
*update* i just checked on the eggs and they have moved.. they r now still under the ornimental log but now in a hollow in the sand do you think dad or mom has found them and r now looking after them ? i dont want to move the log incase it puts the fish off compleatly from looking after them Last edited by Aldric; September 6th, 2009 at 05:37 PM.

| Congrats on the eggs! I would leave them where they are and hopefully mom and dad will look after them. |

| Dad most likely has moved them. Mom lays them and then forgets about them I would definitely leave them alone.

| how long does it take for them to hatch ? |

| About four days they hatch then 4-5 days later they are free swimming. but dad will stay with them until they are able to take care of them selves, frequently not leaving even to eat. The day after they go free swimming you need to put some fresh veggies in there for the fry. Small zuchinni and small cucumbers are favorites.

| Good luck with those eggs; it seems like a good sign that daddy moved them after you put them back. Hopefully everything goes well. I've never seen baby bns so I'm excited to see pictures. |

Since iloveengl had never seen bristlenose fry I thought I would share LOL
Yes the parents were brown but carried the albino as well as the long fin genes So I had brown, albino, long and standard fins in the same batches. BNs are so much fun.

| I'm by no means an expert on plecos, but I'd say, they'll give it another go, so to speak and you shouldn't have to do anything. It may be a good idea to take out the other eggs so they don't mold and/or cause an ammonia spike in your tank. |

| It's a good learning lesson, though. Now if your little boy seems to disappear you'll know it could be because he's protecting babies. Plus, now you have time to go shopping for baby strollers and changing tables... or whatever it is baby plecs need. |

| well in the hopes that they r still viable ive put them in a small fish net and made it so the net is jamed next to my filter so there is the current of the out going water washing over the eggs as i think someone here said they needed water flowing over them and thats what the dad would do with his tail so who knows wot will happen |
