ok, so whenever I get to move into my own place and get enough money I'm getting either a 55 or 75 gallon aquarium. Right now I have a 29. Anyway my question is, are clown plecos okay with sand substrate or is gravel better for them or does it matter? I'm going to eventually make my 29 gallon a planted tank with sand or some other kind of substrate for plants and move the gravel into the bigger tank when I get it.

i think either will be fine, but if you happen to get corys or loaches i think they like sand better, more members will reply,

by the way i just bought my first clown plec today and i have gravel, so far he/she seems to be fine, just waiting on my driftwood to arrive.

yeah mine does great with the gravel. I just wasn't sure if I'd have to move him to the bigger tank or if I could keep in my current one when I move things around
