BN aggression

i have a BN that is nearly 2 inches long and he is really aggressive to every fish in the tank when they get close to his territory. he/she is the only BN in the tank.

why is he so agro? he/she even takes on the crayfish that are 3 times his size and he doesn't give up. he'll kept on swinging his tail 'till the crayfish gets bored and walks away.

Hmmm I'm not sure. My BN's are really peaceful. He is probably aggressive towards the crayfish because he is territorial of the bottom level of the tank.

Plecos can be territorial toward anyone they feel threatened by. make sure you have plenty of caves and hiding spots for your pleco. He will be less likely to feel insecure if he's got he's own little place.

when i first got my BN (5") he lived in a 29g with a common pleco (5"). he was very territorial then, but only towards the common pleco. i moved the common to a new tank about 2 weeks ago and the BN has lost all aggression and is much more active around the tank.

Hopefully he will calm down a bit. I've never been able to keep more than 1 pleco per tank. I think MISSMTS hit the nail on the head so to speak. Good luck!

There is your answer. Those fish, combined with 3 crayfish, makes the bottom of your tank SUPER crowded. ESPECIALLY if that's the 50 gallon you have listed in your signature, then your tank would be overstocked as well imo.

Yup. You have a ton of bottom dwellers. They are probably fighting over territories.

i know it's over crowded and their is not much floor space. i am going to get another tank soon for my smaller fish like the cory's, kuhli's, mollies, platys and small BN until he's bigger. the new tank is 15 g.
