Bristle-nose breeding, and a few other questions

does any one here breed bristle noses? i saw a few vids on you tube of these guys breeding and i wanted to give it a shot. how big are the freshly hatched fry? are they small enough for other fish in the tank to eat them, cause in the vids they were in the tank and no fish was trying to harm them.

also i have a BN that has been in my tank for about a month and he doesn't seem to be growing at all. he is about 1.5 inches. he/her eats scraps of the tank as well as australian native pellets, plus the algae on the glass (but there is barly any algae any where in the tank), also there is wood. any suggestions why it isn't growing?

and would one of these guys do well in a 7 gallon, livebearer fry tank, cause my fry tank is getting covered with algae.

Hi Badwolf, I'm in the process of raising 6 L-144 longfins, which are a type of bristlenose to breed. I've researched a ton and have a tank just for them. Depending on what kind of fish you have in the tank with them the fry would very easily become a meal for a bigger fish.

I feed my bristlenose blanched squash, zucchini, green beans, cucumber, a quality algae wafer, they also get blood worms and brine shrimp too. The algae on the tank and scrapes may not be enough for him. Mine eat a ton of food and are growing like weeds.

I personally wouldn't put a bristlenose in anything smaller then 20gallon. A 7 gallon is def to small.
