| 1 gold nugget(L-018), 1 peppermint(L-030), and 1 chocolate zebra(L-270) Anyone have any idea how these 3 would do in a 75gallon together?
They all come from different species which is preferred to keep aggression down amongst territorial ones from what I have read. They also share similar pH and water temps as well.. namely 81* would be the middle of the range for nearly all of them.
Any other pleco fiends able to give me any real info here? thanks |

| It's a good thing you have such a large tank. All 3 you mention are gorgeous. I don't know very much about plecos, but this site is a good resource: planet catfish |

| L018 gets to be 14 inches and can be very territorial ,L030 gets to be approx 3.9 inches, L270 gets to be approx 3.9 inches.
All very gorgeous Plecos, and huge waste producers the only potential problem I see is that the L018 might out compete the smaller Plecos for food and space. Eventually he will want the whole bottom area for his own.
I have a 4 inch L083(Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps) which will get about the same size as the L018 in my 75g and I vacuum piles of waste out every day. It's quite a job but I love him

| Yes I've ben abusing plecofanatics as well as planetcatfish I was informed how hard GNS are to acclimate so subbed in a spotted medusa for it instead. Also traded the chocolate zebra out for a king tiger, the L-066 variant. Last edited by FL CommunityFans; February 3rd, 2009 at 04:46 PM.

| I frequently use both as resources when researching plecos my all time favorite fancy pleco is the Queen Arabesque(L260)
both of those are really cool fish, especially the spotted medusa (L255).
Your link for the medusa isn't working. Here it is http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog...species_id=705

| I've been hunting the Queen Arabesque's but have had no luck finding them since they hit the ban list for exportation. I got the L-066 before they were gone completely as from what I understood they are on that list as well now. |

| I got these of all places in the last year off of Craig's List, of course i had too drive 120 miles to get a couple of them. L-260 (Queen Arabesque Pleco), L-102 (Snowball Pleco), L-024 (Flame Pleco) , not banned of course: L-018 (3") (Gold Nugget) that was in a community tank. I got these of all places in the last year off of Craig's List, of course i had too drive 120 miles to get a couple of them. And i was lucky they didn't cost an-arm-and-a-leg. |

I am getting these guys from Snoonkn21 .. he's shipping them Thursday. There are some juvie BN's growing out in the 10g with the betta, and a clown and full grown BN in the 29gallon and 2 common plecs in the 55gallon who have just about served there purpose on a severe algae breakout I had in there about 4 months ago. Trade em back in along with some of my male msobos(over populated they are.. almost everything orange in than tank has turned blue!!!!) and get some store credit for food. |

| One of the guys at the Charlotte NC aquarium club breeds them(L260) I got some a couple of years ago through a friend. They were too small an didn't make it.
Thats normal gravel in the pic so you can tell how tiny they were.

Carol | I wish we had local club here. Nothing remotely close though. Atlanta and tampa/orlando are the closest places I know of.
We may end up moving to charlotte when I finish school so maybe I can get in some decent clubs then |

We were members before we moved (still are but don't get to participate). One of my best friends is VP . Their spring auction is March 15

| Some good news on the day... paypal funds finally went through and the trio will be shipped tomorrow and arrive on friday. Figures a coldsnap would come through just as things finally get ironed out. They'll be packaged well and warmly though so I have no worries there.
I'll be sure to get pics when they get home and settled so everyone can see them! |

| Community plecs Hi mate I started my tank again a couple of years ago to collect plecs I currently have four 001's standards a 002 tiger and a bristlenose plec! The 001 s are together and the 002 and bristle together, at first I had a royal green panaque, and a flash 204 (I think) well they died unfortunatly think it was simply because they were out competed, basically the 001s are super hungry all the time which is why I moved the others, which are fine now, All my 001s are now more than 7 inches largest is 18 he can be a bully and is massivly selective with food prefering Hikari Oranda gold! Over even Catfish food! There was a mag recently Tropical fish had a I think Z. pulcher on front now thats a sexy plec kinda like a frog!! that said it was not a good idea to keep diffrent species together, a week after my special ones died, those bloody 001s cost me my two best fish! Then I get the info I needed woops, felt bad for ages poor little buggers! i have given you L numbers by the way easiest way to ID them.
Ps there are some great corys out there too and boy they do well together, thats my new thing, and am looking for some long nosed fairy corys Corydora sychri or one called Ornatus, they are supposed to breed easy and are rare in shops, get more babies here too as plecs are only supposed to lay 15 eggs, corys more like 200 and quite often, good luck mate matt |

| Got these guys in the tank on Friday and they have been doing really well. The King Tiger and Peppermint(who is much better looking in person btw.. heck all of them are!) are the more social at least staying semi visible. The spotted medusa is about an inch smaller than they are and can be very hard to find if it doesn't want to be found. Saw it last night though after not seeing it all weekend. They are all looking nice and fat now, came in on scrawny stomachs. It may be a bit til I can get good pictures. They are all hiding where it's darn near impossible to actually take a picture of them. |
