| Won't come out of hiding. On average, how long does it take for a Clown Pleco to calm down after being introduced to a new tank?
I bought my first Pleco yesterday, and he has been hiding under my driftwood ever since. There is plenty of algae for him to eat on the glass, and plenty of small snails for him to suck on, but he won't come out from under the driftwood. |

From the clown pleco profile at PlanetCatfish: Quote:
A wood-eating fish, the tank should be decorated with several different types of driftwood. These fish really like to have something to chew on and squash, cucumber, and other vegetables should be readily available to them (yams are a favourite). Supplement two to three times weekly with frozen foods. | |

| Some plecos are very shy and you won't see much of them. My BN is very active and I always see him, but my tiger peckoltia and king tiger pleco are hardly ever out. When I see them it's a treat. |

| Hm.
Not good. I wanted one to eat algae.
My LFS will accept a trade, and seeing that I just bought him, I don't think it will be a problem to bring him back.
Except, of course, I don't want to keep moving the poor guy back and forth. |

| Bristlenose plecos are the best algae eaters ever. They can tollerate temps down to 72 degrees so you could put one in with your goldfish. They stay about 4-5 inches, so you could keep your clown and add the Bristlenose. The clown will eat some of the algae, but a bristlenose is a much more efficient cleaner. |

| Thank you, MissMTS.
That was the one I originally wanted, but I couldn't find one anywhere.
I don't know if I should keep the clown also. His diet is a bit more involved than I am used to. I usually do carnivorous diets, I'm not used to extra veggies. Any dietary advice?
If I see that he is calming down, and looking happy in the tank, I'll keep him where he is, and not move him to the Comet tank, but if not, I should probably bring him back. |

| You can drop a veggie wafer in the tank at night time and that will make him happy
Dino and Cheifwaterchanger own a fishhouse where they breed great quality fish. Last time I checked they had Bristlenose Plecos available. You may want to PM one of them and see if they do. I have ordered fish from them before and I have been very happy with them. They ship for a very reasonable price as well. |

| Yep, still there. The only way I know he isn't dead is that he is still stuck to the underside of the driftwood.
I checked this morning, while it was still dark. He was still under there. A little closer to the edge, but won't come out. I don't think the other fish even know he is in there with them. |
