What Kind of Pleco???

I just got a very large Pleco to go in my Oscar tank. I never realized there were so many kinds of Plecos until I started reading this Forum. I was trying to determine the kind of Pleco I have by looking in the PlanetCatfish link. I still cannot figure it out. My Pleco is about 5 or 6 inches and his head is over an inch wide. He stays on the back wall of my tank and never comes out. The first day I put him in the tank I thought the Oscar ate him but he blends in with the black background. I do not see any spots or strips on him unless they are very faint. He never comes out for me to get a good look at him. Any suggestions on what kind he might be then I can look on PlanetCatfish and see if it looks like the one I have. I do not know if I can get a good Pic to post because he is always hiding and blends in with the BackGround. He wasn't that expensive ($12.00) so he is probably a common one. Any help would be great.

I think Sabi is right and you have a common pleco. Does he have any large tunnels or caves to hide in during the day?

I have a cave in the Tank but I think he is too big for it. He hides stuck to the back of the tank behind the fake plants. He blends in with the background which is why I had a hard time taking a picture of him.

I needed to get a big Pleco because I wanted to put it in my Oscar tank without the fear of it getting eaten. It was hard to find a big Pleco where I live. I do not have a good local fish store. I just have the chains - Petco, Petsmart, Pets Plus. I had a good LFS many years ago call "Martins Aqurium" but it closed. I really miss it.

Anyway, I guess I need to find a large cave to put in there. I have been feeding him the Algae Discs. I never see him it so I hope he is eating them. Any other suggestions on what to feed him.

Cuccumber or zucinni will be good snack (sorry about the spelling if its wrong)
Yea its is a common and still has alot of growing to do
You might want to get it a nice big piece of drift wood lean it against something and he should go underneath for his home
Thats what my bn plecos do

How big do commons get? He is already huge.

I have another Pleco in my other tank. He is smaller then the one in my Oscar tank. Here are some pics:

Big terra cotta pots with 'doorways' cut into them or big PVC pipe cut in half can work for the big plecos, just file any rough edges down.
