I put a small piece of watermelon in at the same time as a slice of cucumber. Our plecos ignored the watermelon.

I tried the peas. The plecos nibbled and the guppies absolutely devoured them. Tonight I had a few strawberries I didn't need. I put a piece in each of my tanks. Cichlids are ignoring it. The guppies and plecos in one tank are curious, sampling. The albino pleocos in the other tank are eating the berry... I think I will take them out late tonight so they don't get too mushy.

Boiling them would reduce them to mush and remove all the nutrients we want our fish to get.

Veggies should be served raw.

Asparagus! I broke the ends off - like I do when I prep to cook. I mwaved one end for 15 secs. Let it cool, stripped 2 pieces of the peel and voila. The plecos love it!

Mwaving for a few seconds softend it a bit and it sinks.

Hmm.. I've not tried asparagus yet. I'll have to see how our 2 albino lfbn's like it.

Not all plecostomus species are vegetarians. What type do you have?

And if you do have a vegitarian species, it may take a couple times for the pleco to find it and realize it's food.
