There really aren't any obvious differences between the sexes.

If this is a common pleco, you'll need a bigger tank.

I'm pretty sure he is a common pleco(at another fish forum, people there told me he was). He wont be getting a bigger tank though, He was in a 15 gallon tank at the schools library and the librarian gave him to me, if I had not taken him he would have gone to live in her 10 gallon tank at her house. He lives in my 46 gallon tank and he is very happy. I've had him for a little over two years, and he hasn't grown at all. IF he is stunted, i didn't do it. He is about 5 or 6 inches long.

You could check the profile and information that they have at planetcatfish.com for your pleco.

In that case, he's probably a bristlenose or some other dwarf pleco type.

Do you have a picture? Does he look anything like this?

There are the two pictures I have on my computer. I'll take some more in a few minutes.

Here is one more good one.

Beautiful Pleco!

Check this link:
http://planetcatfish.com/catelog/num...rt=0&genus_id=

You should be able to visually matchup your pleco to one of the plecos on that page.
