Good question. I have never had BN or any kind of pleco's, cat fish.. algae eating fish other than otos.
I really would like to know as well, if the BN lives up to its job title... or is there another algae eater that does the job better. I want to get a algae eater for my 55g tank and the temp there is around 80-81* Do the algae eaters prefer a cooler temp tank?
still on topic here and not really questions... ( i hope) if so, I apolgies ahead of time.

My 10" pleco eats any type of algae thats in my tank. Weather its white algae on the driftwood, brown algae on some of the plants, or green algae on my tank and rocks.

I have him in a 55 gallon and he keeps the tank very clean. My tank water is at 80 degrees and he seems to be healthy and happier than the day i brought him home. Last night I actually turned all the lights off in my room and turned on the moonlights in the tank and stayed up for an hour just watching him roaming around eating algae from all different kinds of decorations and tank walls.

Absolutely! The little bristlenose will keep your tank and everything in it sparkling clean and totally free of algae, both green and brown.

capkate, your temps are a tiny bit warm for BN, but if you have good oxygenation it should be okay.

In a 55, you could get a few BNs to put in there. The long finned albinos are particularly pretty.

Get a bristle nose or 2 they are the cutest. I have yet to see any algae on the tanks they are in. Ours are kept at 80-82* in with the oddities...they are doing fine.

I had a really big brown algae problem in my tank and as soon as I got my LFBN it was gone within days. Now I want one in all of my tanks, but stocking won't permit it. I may have to get rid of a couple fish in one of my tanks to make room for one. I really want an albino one

sounds pretty positive about these BN pleco's. Think I will have to get myself one and lend it out to all the tanks as the algae cleaner! I will have to look for one soon.
thanks for all the advice as well!

Oh yes you will!

I just reluctantly got one because my algae was insane. I thought the BN was hideous but was told it would eat the algae.

Then I started just loving it, so much that I got another one almost immediately. I'd like to have tons of them, all different kinds!!

They're so cute that I talk babytalk to them. Haha..I certainly wouldn't admit that anywhere else but here.

I have a BN in my ten gallon, and he has really cleaned it up big time, and is continuing to keep it clean. There is not much algae left in there, so I am also giving him a cucumber slice every few days.

If you have room in your tank for another fish, one BN will do a good job on the algae!
