Do plecos re-shape gravel?

Hello

I have a 7-gallon freshwater quarantine tank and I'm planning to get an albino pleco for it to be the "janitor" of the tank and to help the bacteria happy. But the tank has a sloped gravel substrate setup and I'm afraid that it might flatten it back. Do plecos reshape the substrate the way they like it?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think they intentionally do it. It b/c of the way they move along the bottom.

My bristlenoses don't spend much on the bottom. They mostly stay on the driftwood, the glass or on the food I give them. Sometimes they rest on the bottom, but I've never seen them do anything to the gravel.

Make sure you give yours a piece of driftwood! You'll also have to feed it regularly, since the algae won't last long in that small tank.

i did have one pleco that intentionally moved gravel. I had regular pea size gravel and large plastic square like things that you can buy in a bag at the pet store scattered around. My pleco intentionally moved all of the square things over to one side of the tank where he liked to sit. I moved them back to where i wanted and he went and moved them again...lol.

If the tank is only 7g, then at most you would want a bristlenose pleco, but even that would be pushing the bioload while any other fish were in the tank.

Our little BNs don't ever move gravel on purpose.
