Does he move at all??

My new clown pleco I swear never moves ... I don't have good hiding places for him, so I know he's probably stressed, and we're redecorating the tank next week. But he's been camped out under my anubia and this morning it looked like he was in the exact same spot as last night.

Is he ok?

Plecos are pretty good at acting like scenery. Because the Anubia is the only place he can hide in the tank, he might be "freezing" there for protection. He'll probably love it when you include some hiding space.
Plecos are built to be more nocturnal, so they often remain still during the day unless they feel very comfortable in the tank (at least, that's the only reason I can come up with for the plecos that I've seen swimming during the day). This might be the biggest reason he's holding still.

Yeah, I feel bad for him, but we're getting a big chunk of driftwood and more plants ASAP. Hopefully I can get the driftwood and start it soaking this week.

My clown is very reserved for the most part. When he is active though he is really fun to watch. Give him a week or two to get used to the new tank.. or actually AFTER you add the driftwood. They don't seem to like it when you mess with their territory too much and tend to hide for days after you move things around. At any rate, enjoy him and take care of him! They are awesome little guys.

You never see my female clown pleco, and I've had her for over a year.

In my experience with plecos, they choose a certain place in the tank which they will stay in all day (or when ever you are watching!), come out at night or in the dark and are back in that exact same place the next day, looking like tehy havn't moved at all!
But they do, even during the day but for some reason they just dont want you to see. My L260 does JUST this, but i hide and watch him feeding time, lol.

Well he chowed down on the cucumber I put in there, so I guess he is moving. And this morning he moved into the cheap little cave thingy we put in there until we can get our driftwood seasoned.

He probably moves around a lot at night. A moon light is cool for a tank with plecos.. or even a led book light doesn't seem to phase our little plecos.

We finally got our driftwood in there, and he loves it. We found a nice piece with a lot of holes through the middle and he has been in there since we set it up.

I think I have one of those little book lights ... I will have to find it!

Update: Not only does he move, but he appears to move a lot for a clown. He comes out to vacuum gravel, suck on plants and stick to the glass during the day, and even with a plethora of holes in the driftwood, a lot of times he's attached right on the top of it in plain view. I guess that's pretty unusual for him to be so active during the day. We love watching him!

You ARE lucky, I've read they don't like to be out during the day also.

Well if we move too fast, he's back under the wood. but we do catch out him fairly often. I haven't given him a cucumber in a while, I need to go to the store.

My adult is out a fair bit. He likes perching on top of his favorite driftwood piece and resting in the slight current as the filter comes down right atop his resting place. You can see him out n about during lunch mulling over pieces of gravel. he'll pick one up, suck on it a bit.. rotate it some, then drop it and go find something else to do.

Our juvie clown is pretty reclusive still. He's out when you're not around, day or night. Show up near the tank though, and he goes in to hiding for the next 3 hours or so.

Mine was out briefly this morning after I turned on the lights but was under the stump decoration. I also cought him last night awhile after I turned off the tank lights but was still watching TV, that was the first I saw of him in 2 days.

I'm not going to let our albino LFBN Plecos read this thread. Right now, they are pretty active during the day.
