How big was YOUR bristlenose pleco when he grew is bristles

Hi

I'm curious to know how big was your bristlenose when he grew his bristles? I'm trying to determine if i have gold nuggets or britlenoses. I was sure it was a gold nugget at first then i was sure it was a bristlenose. Now one looks like a bristle nose and the other 2 look like a gold nuggets. I think the only way to find out will be to see if they grow bristles. They have whiskers but that doesn't deem to have grown.

It may be a female bristlenose.
Some species both sexes have bristles, the males are just larger.

To answer your question, most I have seen develop into males show obvious bristles by about 2 inches.

I agree with Dino. My male was showing larger bristles by about 1.5 inches, and the female, even though she is now "full grown" at approx 4 inches, has very very small bristles

Mine had bristles when I got it, at 1 1/2", and now is 3 inches and just has them around the edges of the head so I still don't know if it's male or female.

My little albino just has teeny bumps and no bristles really.

Mine is about 2 1/2" with small bristles, but I just got him a week ago. He hides in the cave a lot! lol
