Bristlenose or Rubbernose Pleco for Goldfishes?

Hi, I dont have much experience about plecos but I know common is too big and too agressive for my small goldfishes. I dont want any agressive pleco to suck the slime on my goldies, and the tank is 55 gallon. There are 4 small goldfishes in it. So is bristlenose or rubbernose better for my fancy goldfishes? Thanks.

I think either one would be fine in your 55. Eventhough your tank is a good size, the bigger plecos wreak havoc on your tank. They are quite clumsy with their big tails, and any decorations in the tank must be sturdy or your tank will look like a tornadoe hit it everyday. The smaller plecos are more graceful, and you can always have more than one in the tank.

Thanks Gunnie, just one question for you:
Is it hard to keep track of 3 big aquariums like what you have right now? I have 55 gallon and a 15 gallon, so far its ok. Is it a lot harder or just a little harder if I have another aquarium of 10 gallon? I am a college student and I have about 2 hours of free time each weekdays.

Hi. I have the same remarks about the different temperature requirements of all your fish. Plecos are tropical fish, whereas goldfish come from temperate regions. You'll need to research other temperate fish if you want to keep your goldfish.

Plecos and/or suckermouth catfish are not optimal tankmates for Goldfish. Aside of temperate differences, goldfish slime is often too good for a suckermouth to resist.
