My pleco Eats everything!

I Have been closely watching to see my "new" fish eat. I throw a few sinking pellets in there for the striped rapheal or red tail shark neither of them eat it or see there food before my pleco eats all of the pellets. He even eats uneaten flakes that are still sinking? is this normal?

My common Pleco eats everything, he's an absolute hog. Flake food, wafers, ghost shrimp, java moss, everything but cucumber...

Quite normal. Maybe even lucky, just make sure he is getting enough algae. I had one that when he reached a foot would flip over and suck the flakes right off the water surface when I tried to feed the other fish. He was also a hog! By the By , what did you name him......

Yep, you're really lucky. They can be slow eaters so the other fish find the food before him, so you're in good shape.

Danzig's an awesome name for a plec!

Our new guy does the same thing. He is very interactive & a tad aggressive with the African cichlids. The lady who owned him before said she could hand feed him. We haven't tried it yet.

He Hasn't been aggressive but he does bother herman (my striped Rapheal) He'll be in the cave minding his own buisness then danzig comes rushin in trying to see if he can eat some algae off his back they then chase each other around the tank in a more playful manner its quite interesting.

Very cool name for your pleco!

As long as everybody else can get enough to eat, I wouldn't worry about your guy being such a pig.

I worry when a Pleco sucks on other fish. They are known to suck the slime coat, and can cause problems for other fish. The ones that really suffer are angels and other flat fish. If your Raph can stand up for himself it may not be a problem. Did you get this guy from a LFS, or someone? I'm wondering if you got it from someone that was having this problem........

Well The ralph just shrugs him off. He usually only starts sucking on him when he's active and swimming around the pleco and its not that often.
I bought the tank through a local classifieds and the pleco and other fish were included
