Bristlenose are good algae eaters. Some of them have spots and quite spectacular nasal rosterals(nose tentacles)

Hi MF. As far as I know, they're really easy to find. I am yet to walk in a pet store that doesn't have them.

Like Carol says, they're excellent algae eaters.

As far as I know, no fancy pleco is a good long-term algae eater. Only the bristlenose and the common can be relied on to really scrape it off consistently.

Personally, I find the queen arabesque equally beautiful, and way more modestly priced. But the zebras are stunning too.

I have a Royal Pleco, which is the right size, and is really good about scraping algae off the wood which he needs, but only half heartedly works on the glass. This pleco is beautiful with red eyes, and is a good community tank mate.

I agree the bristlenose can be quite lovely, spotted, and if you can find them with white tips to fins...GREAT algae eaters and stay small enough for the smallest tanks.....

Personally I like the Gold Nugget pleco's for appearance, but they are touchy.

I think we would all like a zebra pleco, or 10, if I find a diamond mine I'll let you know!
