| I'm so excited! How awesome is this plec?
L260 Queen Arabesque... They're hardy, scavenge off the bottom for meaty foods and stay under 4". Perfect bottom dweller to fill that niche in my tank The great thing is, I'm pretty sure my LFS should be able to order some in for me since they quite often have various L-numbers in their tanks. It may cost me $30 or more, but I think it'd be worth it!
Has anyone had experience with keeping Queen Arabesques? Do they hide a lot, or can they be coaxed out with some food like my bristlenose can? They're extremely beautiful, but if I'd never even get to see it I might have to get some cories instead :P
Cheers

| They are great fish.
One of my friends in Atlanta breds them.
They can be a little shy at times.
As with most fish, the more places you give it to hide, the more it will be out in the open. |

| Thanks Dino! That's good news - I have loads of hiding places in my tank, and also the lighting is quite subdued. This fish looks more and more promising Also, my tank is 4ft long so I think there shouldn't be any territory issues with my BN and the L260. The only thing I'm worried about is whether it would be wild-caught or tank-bred.... tank-bred would make me feel more comfortable, both in terms of how well the fish would do in my tank and from an ethical point of view. I'll ask my LFS guy about it when I get an extra neon next week.
Cheers

| They are absolutely gorgeous fish, the only thing I have to add is I don't recommend them under a inch they can be very delicate under that size.

| They are looking more and more amazing by the minute, haha! Thanks for that info, Butterfly - I'll make sure to have a detailed discussion with LFS guy. I really hope they can order some in for me. The only other options would be going to my less local LFS who might be able to order them in, or to order one online (£30 plus £15 shipping - so £45 or $90 ). I really don't want to order one online, because apart from the cost there is the stress of shipping and the possible difference in pH . |

| We paid $40 for our Blue panaque L239 and Blue phantom L128 plecos a year ago when they were tiny. We had a L264 sultan pleco $40 but he was aggressive with the other plecos...so we sold him.
It amazes me that we actually spent that much on them but we are keeping them for life. I love fancy plecos...I want a strictly pleco tank someday all fancy pleco from the same area. BUT I guess that will have to wait until we get our store going before that can happen. |

| If you get one you will enjoy having it, no doubt!
I find they are very shy at first but slowly come out after they get used to their surroundings. Mine now comes out often and soon as i put food in the tank he's all over looking for it!
Hope you get one at a good price, i paid something like 25 us dollars. |

| I went to the LFS today for my extra neon, and walked away with one neon, a windelov java fern, and 3 Bolivian Rams! I asked about the L260 and they're going to investigate and phone me if they are available!! I'm even more excited now, lol. They also said they'd take my platy fry, so all in all I am a very happy fishboy |

| Yeah, they're really good. Lots of nice, healthy fish available, as well as a good range of plants. They seem to know what they're talking about, too |

| Well, I gave them the platies today (it took me about 1 hour to catch 6 of them clever little buggers!), and they told me that they'd have a shipment of L260s in this time next week! Hooray! They don't know yet if they'll be wild-caught or captive-bred, or how much they'll cost. We'll see. But it's looking good, and my tank looks a lot more sane without the crazy platy fry dashing everywhere. |

| The LFS had them today, ready for sale tomorrow... I asked the price, and the LFS guy told me.
£27.50.
That's about $60USD! No way I can afford that until after Christmas, and even though they are beautiful, that much money is a bit of an investment (especially as these specimens are wild-caught). If I have lots of money after Christmas then maybe I'll think about it, but a price that high is very prohibitive. |
