In need of some Pleco advice ..

My boyfriend and i recently started up a fish tank again and he just had to have a pleco. He had never had one before so he just kept begging. Needless to say I gave in knowing that eventually we will have to get a bigger or tank or hand him off to a friend of ours. But currently hes acting a little different then any of these guys ive had in the past. We have two african dwarf frogs in the tank as well and he seems to go after them. They all hide in the same spot even though there are other spots to hide they all just like this one spot. He will be hanging upside down and actually go down and start sucking on these little guys. I dont see that they are hurt or anything im just worried that they could become hurt. Im wondering if this is an aggressive behavior or just him making a mistake.

Anyways Im just wondering what i can do to help resolve this. I dont want to see the frogs hurt but at the same time trying to convince the bf that getting rid of the pleco is the best option isnt going so well. So any help you guys could give me would greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

It's just a common pleco.

Re: In need of some Pleco advice ..

The slime coat of aquatic life is mainly protein and while most plecos eat veggies/algae as the main part of their diet he may be needing some protein. Drop some shrimp pellets in after lights out where he can find them and see if this helps. If not you may have to return him to save your frogs.

Re: In need of some Pleco advice ..

We currently feed the frogs and the beta(he wont eat anything but these crazy fish) the frog and tadpole bites. Do the shrimp pellets have a lot more protein in them then these? Sorry i tried looking for more info on them but came up empty handed. Just how my luck is going today lol. But thanks a lot for giving me some input. I think were gonna head out and get some of those. Thanks again!

Always welcome! Make sure he still gets plenty of veggies and algae also.
