FLBettaCouple, you'd be jealous

Yesterday I was my LFS and saw some more black calico platys as well as some blue ones, I bought 1 blue calico in hopes she would mate with my black calico and have lots of baby calicos. She is very beautiful, I will try and have some pics asap.

Oh really? Now don't shoot me down, guys, but platies kind of leave me cold. Don't know why. It's a good job too, or I'd need an extension to my house to house all the fish I love! Right now, am more of a molly-pleco-betta girl. Would love to own a betta but not yet. Anyway, sorry to butt in.

lol.. platys are such funny little fish and the color/pattern variety is amazing. i wonder what a breeding with a blue calico and a blue mickey mouse platy would yield? maybe 2 or 3 pairings could yield blue calico mickey mouse platys to breed and establish lines of.

I know what you mean. I can see that some are really pretty and have the deepest haze of red, for example, but emotionally, they just don't really do it for me. I couldn't imagine getting very attached to one. Don't know why. Maybe childhood trauma?

I was sad to lose our gold twinbar Daisy, she was my favorite and i really liked to watch her.. but i don't feel as attached to them as Bettas - but the Bettas interact so much with us, i think that makes sense.

That's why I really want to read up on bettas and take the step. I get the feeling they have more of a relationship with their human.

they definitely do - we call them underwater puppies - they'll get excited to see you, listen to you talk, beg for food, be naughty when they think you're not looking, then look real guilty when you catch them being naughty, they're playful and curious, etc.

I bought another black calico platy at one of the other pet stores that sells dwarf gouramis for less than $5.
