Help! Platy fin issues!

Over the last few days I've noticed that the top fin on one of my platies is slowly starting to disappear and the back fin is becoming pointy. I thought it might be one of the zebra danios fin nipping, but they all tend to leave the poor platy alone. It appears to have a hard time swimming to the mid and upper parts of the tank and stays closer to the gravel. All other fish seem to be doing okay.

Any ideas what's wrong and how to cure the little guy?

Welcome to Fishlore Fatalysis! What are your readings for ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates. It could be a water parameter problem.

Welcome to Fishlore, Fatalysis

I agree with BB. Let us know your water parameters and which test kit are you using? Keep us posted.

Unfortunately, my platy didn't make it. Its fins reverted back to normal, but then its bottomside started to puff up and its scales appeared conelike. It hung out at the bottom of the tank for the last few days until it stopped moving today.

Here are my API readings:
Nitrates 20
nitrite 0
Hardness 250-300
chlorine 0
Alkine 60
pH 7.4

Hello Fatalysis. So sorry to hear you lost your Platy. Clamped fins are never a good sign. Your tank may be dealing with ammonia issues. What is the reading for your ammonia level? I don't see it listed.
