About 2 weeks ago I was feeding my fish frozen
brine shrimp when I noticed 1 tiny play fry hiding under the
driftwood. This is weird for a few reasons: it was only 1 fry, I only have 2 female platies, and I've had these fish for almost 4 months at the time of birth. That's more than 100 days! I knew livebearers could hold on and have birth later after mating, but I didn't know it could be this long. The fry is a dwarf sunset platy and showed orange from the day it was born. I took the route of leaving it in the aquarium and adding a large plant for it to hide. It seems to be doing pretty good. I am hoping this fry is a female since I have 2 other females. I am guessing it should be big enough to be safe and show what sex it is in a about a month.
