number of fry?

let me start with the first incident.

when i started my tank, (20 gallon) the LFS told me to start with a couple of fish and grow from there. so i purchased 1 zebra danio, 1 red platy and later added the algae eater. about 6 weeks later i noticed a fry in the tank, only one. it grew up and is about half the size of its mother. 1 1/2 weeks ago i added 3 female and 1 male (platy but all different colors) and moved the danio into a seperate tank with 2 more of its kind (it was picking on the mom). Just yesterday i noticed two new fry, one red and one blue. now my question is: is it normal for the fish to have just one fry? the moms still look pregnant, but not as big as before.

to Fish Lore!
It would be very unusual for a fish to have only 1 fry. Chances are the others have been eaten, possibly by the mother and or other tank mates. Keep us posted.

i've been checking everyday, and now we're up to 11 fry, that's 7 blue and 4 red platy.
one of the red fry has black fins like one of the females, and two are red like my original one (i call her big mama, because she's the biggest of all my platy) and the last red one looks light in color like the platy that's yellow with orange fins.
