My platy only dropped 6 fry

My platy has dropped atleast 15 fry in every prevous batch. The mom was in a v-breeder box and she managed to eat 2 fry. I removed her to a resting tank. She still is a little round. Can i expect her to drop more fry?

yes you can. she might drop a few more over a course of a couple of days, if not, just wait an extra 30 days. on a sidenote, broods get smaller as the female ages, so if she did once birth 15 fry, she wont be able to do that all her life.

Hi.. I was under the impression that the platy fry increase with each birth? At least that is my experience with them, as well as researching. Of course when they are in their 'senior years' it slows down to nill.

Try leaving her in the tank next time. My experience with breeder boxes has always been bad. Many live bearer females get stressed when put in a breeder box then either hold off without dropping, or they abort due to the stress. It's extreamly rare for any female of any livebearer species to drop as many fry in a breeder box as they do in an open aquarium.
