Just wondering if this black spot on the HiFin Platy is the start of a pregnancy (I hope not... I don't have any room for babies.)

doesn't look like she is. how long have you had her? if you got her recently she prbably is, but if you've had her for while, she probably is, but with a lower chance if, that makes sense.

mine looks 2 or 3 times the size and she isn't pregnant. my male completely ignores her. my guppies and mollies breed but my platy's don't.

i think you should breed them, it is a lot of fun and you don't want to many you could always trade them for something at your LPS.

Good morning. It's not pregnant. If it is it isn't showing yet. You'll know for sure once it gets a gravid spot (dark spot) behind the anal fin.

I dont think that your little one is pregnant either. Im wondering tho what you are feeding them? Its always possible that the dark in the belly is showing the foods that they are eating.
My platys have dark areas as well whether they are pregnant or not, and they always seem to be pregnant. But I also feed them blood worms and brine shrimp and I know that when I look at them in the light, with those big ole fat tummys and dark spot like a gravid spot, its only the meal they have eaten.
