platy with dropsy

Hi all,
I have a 10 gallon tank with 4 platies in it. I platy appears to have dropsy. From everything that I have gleaned this should be a quick death. The puzzle. Her scales are pineconing and have been since Friday. I have given her a couple of epsom salt baths that seem to have had some effect but the scales are still raised. She is not at all lethargic nor has she lost her appetite. I have tried feeding all the platies peas in case the cause is constipation and that has not worked. Is there anything else I can try?

Melafix. I use it. It is a medication that is an all around treatment for any bacterial infections

i'm really sorry to hear that generally once they start pineconing there isn't much more you can do but try to keep them comfortable

Thanks guys
I thought that dropsy was supposed to take them fast, but she is soo active that it is hard to believe it is fatal. She is still swimming fine and eating like a little piggy so I may try the melafix.

Two of mine have suffered from this, it's a really nasty thing to watch happen. The best thing to do is keep them as comfortable as possible, and just keep an eye on them. Sorry to hear about this
