Semi-Lethargic Platy ummm...I think she's throwing up...

I was watching little Ricky, and she was making these little kissy faces in the water, like when they eat. But then she threw up...I think she's done it about 3-4 times now, might be 5 by the time I finish typing. Is she okay? Or did she just over eat? She didn't look too fat. I recently started giving my fish freeze-dried krill(like, yesterday). None of the other fish in the tank are experiencing these symptoms. I do have another tank, but the heater is faulty and randomly stops working.

*Update*
Just checked back at the tank, she's doing fine. Not throwing up anymore. The other fish seemed to have realized I put an algae wafer in the tank and have all started nibbling at it. Ricky just joined in. I don't think anything is wrong with Ricky, but I really want to be sure. She's my absolute favorite fish, and was born the day I first got fish so she's as old as I have been keeping fish.

yes fish can regurgitate their food, but its not a good thing.

Okami, my fish do the same "eat-spit-eat" technique. They're softening the food, not throwing up.

Fish often throw up when they overeat, or swallow something larger than they can handle. One of my platy fry took a large bloodworm out of the mouth of one of my adults (feisty little baby) and proceeded to swallow the whole thing. She threw it back up in a cloud of chunks. If this is whats going on, you could try soaking the bloodworms in tank water before feeding it to them, my platies seemed to only regurgitate freezedried foods unless i soaked them in water first. Too dry i guess...

Hello Momo. I recommend always pre-soaking any freeze dried foods. I feed my fish freeze dried krill as treat as well and always pre-soaked. If you don't pre-soak the food and the food is eaten it can swell inside the fish. The food needs to swell before the fish eat it.
Take care!

depends... usually you can just soak the food in tank water, but for nutrition, you can soak it in some garlic juice diluted with a bit of aquarium water. adds flavor, and boosts the fish's health.
