hi. i have a platy (not sure what breed or sex) and he/she doesn't really move much. he/she breathes and flaps her fins and she'll go to the top of the tank and eat a lot. and he/she will also move around the tank, somewhat. is this normal for them to not be this active? he/she doesn't look injured or stressed, ive had her since last weekend, and the person netting all the fish was brand new, she wasn't dropped of the floor or anything, i have 2 angels, 1 big, 1 small, a delmation molly, a balloon belly molly, a angelicus catfish, and that platy.

hi there,
there really is not much else for your platy to do. It will not school or 'play' with the other fish in your tank and it has no other of its own species to hang out with. Maybe it would be happier if there were more of its own kind in the tank that it can swim around with and hang with? It sounds like its lonely.

ok thank you. he sometimes likes to hang out with the mollies in a hidden rock i just wanted to make sure that they weren't sick.

i have to say, my pH was low, and i got it higher, and he/she is swimming more and not hiding as much

platies definitely do their best when they are in groups of 3+
