In New Zealand. Thats far for me. Do you have any pics of them Nick Goody?
They are very beautiful fish.
I also like the Red Wagtails. I just hope my LFS have some left when my tank finishes its cycle. Last time I checked they only had six of them left.
I need to keep looking around for some blue ones though. Really good looking fish.
I have a few blues, well more than a few as my girls both had babies. Not trying to keep the strain pure though. They are pretty, I have them with sunset platies, and some other colors. My babies from the blues are about .5 inches - .75 inches now and are just getting really good color. Looks like the majority are blues, which makes me think it's a pretty dominant color strain. I bought them at Petco here.
I dont know if i've seen them around here but i hope so!!! Whenever i have room for another tank (and have already gotten a dwarf puffer, some more bettas, an axolotl, angelfish, etc) they will definitely be in the next one!
I actually found mine at Wal-Mart in Charlotte of all places! They were in a tank with assorted platies. Also you may want to talk to a specialty fish store, find out if they are on their list of fish they can order from week to week and see if they will order some for you. I had a non-chain pet store manager that offered to do that for me.
Blue Platies are beautiful and one of my favorite freshwater fish. Don't let them deceive you when you do find them, they look very ordinary and minnow colored until you get them under the light.
They get a bunch of them at my fave lfs... they sell really quick. They had like, about 100 or so in a fifty gallon tank once. I came back the next week, and there were five or six left.I'm going to get some to go with my red tuxedos and barbs as soon as I upgrade my tank. Very nice platies!
I have no idea how rare the blue ones are... but I was looking for them myself not long ago and couldn't find any. I saw them once at Petsmart and then never again. Good luck... they are beautiful fish!
i see alot of blue corals & blue mickey coral platies, but i only see pure BWTs at Aquarium Adventure. i once had a BWT platy that gave birth in my tank but the fry found a way out of the breeder net and i found both of them dead in my java moss
