I have new arrivals :) (picture)

i had some platy fry not long after i set up my tank and i spotted 3 in the tank (about 6 months ago now) by accident but later the mom died so i decided i wanted more fry so i got 2 femals to my 1 male and i could tell me newest was pregnant, after watching her closely and still nothing i gave up hope but thought id put her in the breeding box just incase while i was out yday (my angel is very aggresive so couldnt take the chance) and when i got home i had 8 and she was still going some died but i have 7 swimming around looking healthy, tomorrow i will move them to the breeding tank to there new home

xx

How adorable! My own platy is expecting fry soon- I'm not sure if she was pregnant when we got her, but if she wasn't the male sword quickly changed that.

*hoping that a couple of mine survive*

Please don't worry about the young fry. I have had platy for about 18 mths and and had about 100 fry. I just leave them in the tank with the adults they well find a place to hide if they need to,as long as there are plants or big stones. When they get to many in the 10 gal. I move then to the twenty gal.until they get quite big then I take in to the only pet store in town and let them have them. My fingers are to big and miss some letters or words

Ive made a big mistake, ive gt 6 males and only 2 female platys. Does that cancel out the liklyhood of fry?

It reduces the chances. The males will chase the females constantly looking for sex. The females will become stressed and less likely to give birth successfully. They can even die from the stress. As a rule of thumb, it's best to have two females to every male. I currently have five females to my two male platys.

Niiice.
Nice photo.

I'm new to fish keeping and to see a small fry is wonderfull.
Dont have any fish of my own yet, but platies are first on my list.
Just have to wait for the nitrogen cycle to finish.

Is this how they look right after birth?
