Platy has me worried

One of my platys looks really bloated. At first I thought it was just fat or pregnant but looking at it today its scales look all bumpy. Any help here as i'm really worried

I think it has dropsy, which has got me REALLY worried. Is it going to die and could it be harmful to my other fish? I'm going to take it to my LFS straight away tomorrow

this might be dropsy. When you look at the fish from above does it look pineconed shaped? if so, it is dropsy. This can be a challenge to cure. If possible, isolate the infected fish and treat with medicines. I've found Maracyn 2 to be very helpful when treating dropsy. This disease is not very contagious, but can be fatal to the affected fish.

I 2nd Maracyn 2 for treatment if it is dropsy. Although dropsy itself is not contagious, the cause of the infection must be taken care of. When my tank got it, it was caused by a bacteria build-up in my python hose. When changing water, I now use one hose to take water out, and a different hose to put water back in. Is there any way bacteria could have gotten into the tank? Have you added anything new to the tank?

I took it to the lfs esterday. The man says its has a better chance of survival of most cases: its fins are in good condition, there are no cuts or pop-eye or anything: just simply bloated. He gave me some aquilibrium salt and interpret anti bacterial stuff. And the good news is that today the fish looks quite significantly less bloated. So fingers crossed! Oh and i checked nitrate, nitrite and ammonia levels and they are all fine: all below 0.1
