i need some advice ?

i need some advice ?
i am new to guppies and platies. their tank is just under a year old, but i read somewhere that they can not be together in one tank. if so can anybody tell me why? i really don't want to set up another tank.

i have 4 cories
1 pleco
8 neons
3 platies
in 60g tank.
i was given a lot of guppies, so i put them in the same tank, then found this site, and got confused

i almost had a heart attack when i saw the result of that search.

i guess the lesson here don't believe everything you read.
so my next question is : which is a good place to look up fish compatibility

I think that the reasoning behind this may be that guppies and platies can cross-breed, but produce stunted fry. I'm not positive on this, however. I know that two of the common livebearers can cross-breed, and produce weak, stunted offspring, but I can't remember which.
Anyway, if you have either all one gender or plenty of females for the males of each species, this shouldn't be a problem.

there are 3 platies one of them is male.
all gappies a female. i separated them, males are sitting in different tank.
all f guppies i think are expecting, the all have dark spots.

I have one lone guppy (he wasn't always the only one) in with my plattys. He is a male and I have male and female platys - I have never noticed unusual fry, but I also do not seperate the fry from the adults, so I do not have many that make it.

Guppies and endlers cross breed and platy and sowardtails also
