Platy looks dirty

I've noticed that my Platy's have been getting this brownish coloring to them, that makes them look dirty, and they die shortly after. Whats the cause of this?

I'm sorry you're losing your fish.
It would be helpful if you filled in your aquarium info

If you could answer some questions, it'll help the members help you.

What size tank do you have?
How many and what kind of fish are in it?
How old is the tank?
Is it cycled?
What are your readings for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates?
What kind of a test kit are you using?
Have you added anything new to the tank recently?

Sorry for all the questions, good luck.

I found out that my fish were suffering from Dropsy. I've since medicated the tank and their all happy now.

i've noticed this too. one has died but i don't think this discoloration had anything to do with it as my other three are sort of brownish too.i'd be interested in knowing what causes this as well.

You may want to find out how Dropsy got into your tank to prevent it from coming back. It can be pretty tough to handle.
